Bulk Hog Shares - Paid to Stemple Creek Ranch
We are proud to offer our pasture-raised Duroc, Yorkshire, and Landrace-cross hogs (aka pigs) for sale. Since we only harvest hogs a few times a year, the quantity is very limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Our hogs can eat as much non-GMO wheat, barley, and peas as they want, along with anything else they root up from the trees. They live their whole lives in a grove of Eucalyptus trees on our ranch in Tomales, CA.
Once you place your order, we will email you to give you an estimate on when our next hog harvest will be.
Whole Hog: $7.49 per pound on hanging weight. Hanging weights typically range from 200-250 pounds, resulting in a price range of $1,498 - $1,872 (does not include cut and wrap fees). Non-refundable deposit: $900.
Half Hog: $7.99 per pound on hanging weight. Hanging weights typically range from 100-150 pounds, resulting in a price range of $799 - $1,198 (does not include cut and wrap fees). Non-refundable deposit: $600.
Please note: these are average weight ranges and the final hanging weight may fall outside of these estimates. Once the weight of the hog is determined, you'll receive an invoice for the remainder due.
Butcher Selection & Fees - Paid to the Butcher Shop at Pick Up
You have the option to choose between two butchers for processing: Willowside Meats in Santa Rosa, CA or Bud's Custom Meats in Penngrove, CA. The butcher shop will communicate with you directly regarding the cut and wrap process and when they expect to have the meat ready for you. They will always strive to meet your preferred timeline. The custom cut and wrap fees for both butchers are around $1.25 per pound, charged on the hanging weight and paid directly to the butcher shop. Cut and wrap charges will amount to approximately $250-$315 for whole hog or $125-$190 for half hog.
Cost Per Meal
When purchasing bulk hog, it's important to understand the value you get with each meal. Take-home weight after processing will be approximately 70% of the hanging weight.
Whole Hog (200 lb example): ~140 lbs take-home weight. Total cost including butcher fees: $1,748 $12.48/lb). Cost per ½ lb meal: ~$6.24.
Half Hog (100 lb example): ~70 lbs take-home weight. Total cost including butcher fees: $924 ($13.20/lb). Cost per ½ lb meal: ~$6.60.
